You deserve to know who your photographer is before you hire.


I get it. It can be intimidating to hire a photographer out of the blue. Whether you want senior portraits, engagement photos, or you're planning your wedding day, who you hire matters.



1.) Look for a photographer who:

  • Will go above and beyond to get to know you and cater to your needs and vision.
  • You click with! This is extremely important because you need a photographer you can trust to carry out your vision. Each photographer will have their own style, do you like their style? & more importantly, do you want your photos in that style?


2.) Look beyond the price tag 🏷️

If you're searching online for the perfect photographer as much as you might want to hire a photographer simply because of their price, it's more than that. If the price is more important to you than the quality of the photos than you will always be able to find a photographer that will match your price. BUT. if you want photos you LOVE & can keep forever, who you hire matters.


3.) Look for someone you could be friends with in real life

Maybe you don't click with the first photographer you inquire about--that's okay. To that, I would say, bookmark that photographer, but keep looking. Why? Because even if you don't become besties, you still want someone you will enjoy being with, someone you can trust, and someone who will create space for you (& loved ones) to be YOU. (Especially if you're booking for a wedding.)


So even if you don't need a photographer right now...

Stick around! Get to know me as a photographer & follow a few other photographers who are in your area. (Simply look up "________ (city name, area, state) portrait photographer" on Instagram and you'll find plenty to begin with. Consider it research, ask questions, comment, and begin by creating a mood-board of any photos you like or a style you would love replicated in your own photos.
