This is an open letter to all the brides...

Your wedding is the chance to celebrate YOUR LOVE. With that being said, I wanted to share with you a few ways you can creatively incorporated your love story, values, and personalities into your special day (and how to invite your photographer into it all :))

1.) Think about your love story

  • How did you and your love meet? What are some special or quirky twists to your love story? Sometimes the best part about attending weddings is hearing the way couples met and getting a glimpse into their love for each other.
  • Simple ways to incorporate your love story and personalities into your day is to think about what is special to you two.
  • Perhaps it's recreating scenes or moments from your favorite date together. Pizza, in-n-out, or milkshakes, let's incorporate it into your special day (even if it means sneaking away for a quick bite in the middle of it ;))
  • Maybe you both are movie buffs, talk with your photographer about the possibility of integrating your favorite things from movies into your special day. (If we're talking about 90's rom-coms, I'm your photographer for the job!)
  • Do you have a dream location for your wedding? To the left is a moment captured at a Deception Pass State Park wedding. L&F reached out to me with the idea of taking their wedding photos on a cliff up at the state park where they first fell in love and the photos turned out BEAUTIFULLY.

2.) Think about your collective values ✨

  • When you begin planning your day there's so many voices telling you to do this or that and it's hard to distinguish between your day and the day that your family or friends imagine for you. This is why it's so important to jot down your values for your wedding.
  • Plan a date with your love over some yummy food and begin brainstorming:
  • Do you want to incorporate cultural celebrations into your wedding? Perhaps you are planning a 2 or 3 day wedding event that includes cultural or religious ceremonies, that's a huge value and should be prioritized for your day. This can come through in the food, dress/outfit choices, party favors, experiences you're planning for you and your guest, or even the way you want to be photographed!
  • Perhaps you're dreaming of a simple wedding where the priority is to celebrate your love! Values could include prioritizing time and space to get away from the busyness of the day to reconnect with your loved one. This could include anything from planning a first look/touch, planning a communion or prayer time with your love or your closest group (bridesmaids, bridal party, family, or just parents), organizing an after after-party where you celebrate with just a handful of your closest friends and family.
  • Perhaps honoring family and those closest to you is an important value to your wedding day, some ideas could include setting up a specific time in the day to connect with grandparents/parents before or after the ceremony. Communicate with your photographer about certain heirlooms or traditions that are important to you and your photographer can help you integrate it into your special day.
  • Create a moodboard/pinterest board and begin dreaming! You should feel empowered to dream and make your wedding a day that is completely YOU.

To the right is a photo from a wedding ceremony where the Bride and Groom wanted to celebrate communion and prayer during the ceremony. I would love to help your vision come to life whatever the special ceremonies or activities are!
